Joint English-Language Postgraduate Program
“International Studies – Specialization in European Studies”
(Master double degree)

The School of Political Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Department of Cultures, Politics and Society (Dipartimento di Culture, Politica e Società) of the University of Turin (Università degli Studi di Torino) are announcing the launch of the new joint English-language Master’s Program entitled “International Studies – specialization in European Studies”(double degree) for the academic year 2023-2024.
The Program awards two separate diplomas (double degree): a postgraduate diploma in “International Studies – Specialization in European Studies” awarded by the School of Political Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki; and a postgraduate diploma “International Studies – Specialization in European Studies” (Scienze internazionali, profilo Studi Europei) awarded by the Dipartimento di Culture, Politica e Società of the Università degli Studi di Torino (UniTo).
The Program is addressed to graduates of higher education institutions who have completed at least their first cycle of studies. The duration of the Program is two years (the Program provides 120 ECTS). During the first year, courses take place in Thessaloniki at the School of Political Sciences; during the second year, courses take place in Turin by the Department of Cultures, Politics and Society of the University of Turin.
The Program is offered in English.
Prospective applicants must fill in the following form, to which all the necessary supporting documents can be attached.
Αpplication should include the following documents (as attachments in the following form in pdf or jpg format):
- Copy of their degree or of a certificate of completion of studies
- A transcript with the analytical score for all their studies
- A certificate of English language proficiency (at least C1 level), or a
certification of university studies undertaken in English. - Curicullum Vitae
- A motivation letter of up to 500 words in English
All prospective applicants who meet the minimum criteria set by the Study Program Committee will be notified by email by Friday, September 8, 2023, in order to officially apply for their participation in the final examination of the program. The selection procedure is explained in detail here: https://www.polsci.auth.gr/admission-procedure/. Candidates who have not completed the first cycle of their studies may be invited to the exams on the condition they obtain their degree before the start of the courses (Monday 16 October 2023).
According to the Program Regulation, the evaluation of each prospective postgraduate student is based on: a) an assessment of his/her CV and portfolio; b) a written examination; and c) a personal interview.
The application for participating in the final exam, together with the accompanying documents 1-4, must be submitted in person or by courier to the Secretariat of the School of Political Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki from Monday, September 11, to Friday, September 15, 2023 (date of the post).
Structure of the final exam
- A two-hour written examination on the topic “European institutions” (in Greek or English, at the candidate’s choice).
- Α personal Interview in English. The interview aims to certify the candidate’s level of command of the English language, as well as his/her level of knowledge of the subject matter of the master’s degree.
